Job Purpose

We are seeking an experienced and committed Network Administrator to join our dynamic and innovative organization. The Network Administrator assures that Project Harmony continues to identify and implement technological advancements, cultivating a technology minded and equipped workforce that fosters our mission, goals and programs. All efforts implemented are expected to positively impact our staff, programs and donor contribution goals.

The Network Administrator is responsible for all aspects of network administration including servers, desktop systems, communications, hardware/software, security, cyber-security and office systems. The Network Administrator assists in training needs to include computer hardware, software and internet/intranet systems.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Maintain network hardware, software, firmware, middleware, etc., to ensure network security, stability, and availability.
  • Maintain computer equipment and peripherals – to include inventory management, warrantee, contractual use, repairs, disposal, etc.
  • Support Project Harmony’s new employee onboarding process with IT support and overviews.
  • Install and maintain software on all Project Harmony IT equipment.
  • Assists in dealing with computer software or network problems – utilizing ticketing system for supporting and prioritizing help desk activities.
  • Maintain phone equipment for Project Harmony – to include IP and Mobile phones.
  • Ensure licenses and service agreement contracts are kept current.
  • Assist in purchasing and technical assistance for cell phones in use by Project Harmony staff.
  • Prioritize and coordinate IT projects, assignments, and tasks in alignment with IT strategies.
  • Create and revise IT policies and procedures.
  • Manage HIPAA and other data protection technologies and procedures.
  • Provide reports and presentations to staff and upper management.
  • Monitor the costs involved in maintaining and improving information systems, including equipment and software. 
  • Evaluate and recommend technology purchases based on the needs of Project Harmony - managing budget and invoice expenses.
  • Ensure proper IT operating procedures are in place, trained, and followed.
  • Coordinate with other departments to understand and meet their IT requirements.
  • Check systems to optimize performance and initiate recovery after system failures.
  • Establish and control systems access and security.
  • Monitor and maintain network stability, collect and analyze network and memory utilization, and install and test software upgrades.
  • Coordinate and control computer operation scheduling, backup, storage, and retrieval functions.
  • Coordinate third-party maintenance for network hardware, software, and telecommunications services.
  • Develop or establish strong relationships with service providers and oversee vendor contracts.
  • Provide training and support to users.
  • Provide mentoring and coaching to IT staff.
  • Focus on a helpful, respectful, and positive work environment.
  • On-site attendance is required of this position.

Requirements

Education and Training

  • A Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or related field supplemented by additional education or experience with current technology.

Work Experience

  • Five (5) years’ experience as an administrator on a medium-sized network (50 users) of network, servers, desktop systems and communications devices using current technologies.
  • Experience in IT leadership role preferred.

Required Knowledge and Skills

  • Demonstrated knowledge of Windows servers and desktop products.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of setting up remote access for users.
  • Demonstrated ability to administer and configure a medium-sized network and firewalls.
  • Demonstrated ability to support networked peripherals.
  • Demonstrated working knowledge of current communications devices and protocols, server and desktop technologies.
  • Sound understanding of computer systems (hardware/software), networks etc.
  • Configure, manage, upgrade, and strengthen security network firewall.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of network access security and cyber-security concepts and implementations.
  • Ability to negotiate hardware/software service and support contracts with vendors.
  • Experience in analysis, implementation and evaluation of IT systems and their specifications.
  • Excellent analytical, process design and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to coordinate and collaborate projects, activities, and tasks simultaneously.
  • Facilitation and change management skills.
  • Strong communication skills (written, verbal and active listening).
  • Ability to build relationships and work collaboratively with co-workers, vendors and business partners.
  • Ability to work with experienced and non-experienced user base.
  • Team and solution oriented.
  • High level of initiative and energy.
  • Must be a self-starter and able to work independently as well as part of a team.
  • Must respect and maintain confidentiality.

Other

  • Intermittent sitting, standing and walking will be required.
  • Occasional lifting and carrying of assorted materials from 25 to 75 lbs. will be required. 
  • Must be willing to work flexible hours.
  • Must submit to a thorough criminal history background check.
  • Must have access to a vehicle, possess a valid Nebraska driver’s license and proof of insurance.
  • Position may involve some travel, primarily within the state.
